Cypress Cove Elementary opened in the fall of 1994. It was designed for and has retained its identity as an early childhood facility. Over the years, subtle changes in the various school components have resulted in minor adjustments. However, the original focus of providing a positive early childhood setting has remained constant

In 1999, Cypress Cove Elementary was recognized as a "School of Academic Achievement" by the State of Louisiana. The school was recognized again in 2002 by the State for exceeding the two year growth target by 5 points.

Cypress Cove Elementary is accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and received a continuation of this accreditation in the Spring of 2001.

Cypress Cove Elementary received the Creative Ticket School of Excellence Award in 2001. This award is given to only 2 schools in The State of Louisiana each year as a reward for outstanding endeavors through the arts. No other kindergarten and first grade school had ever won this award of distinction.
